Shameless plug: Come work in Roanoke

Two key members of our online multimedia team announced they'd be leaving The Roanoke Times by the end of the month. Hunter Wilson, who joined roanoke.com last September, and Daine Vineyard, who's been producing the TimesCast since April 2006, will be leaving Virginia for opportunities elsewhere. Hunter will move to Kentucky, while Daine will test out the Austin, Texas, music scene.

Their departures mean we're looking for two top-notch multimedia producers to fill their spots. If you've got the skills and want to work at a place that's always trying new things in video, check out the job description or drop me a line.

Dang!

I'd heard through the grapevine that both Daine and Hunter were leaving. They did some great work while in Roanoke.

Two lucky applicants are going get a fantastic opportunity to work with one of the best information gathering organizations in the industy!

Isn't the paper laying off people left and right? It doesn't sound like the kind of place you'd want to plan to stay for the long term!

Matt: The paper isn't laying people off. An early retirement buyout option was offered to employees who qualify (a certain age and number of years at the company), but no one has been laid off.

Maybe I am just not understanding.....I too was under the impression that they are laying off and have the buyout option for employees.... Not too long ago they "reorganized" other departments...a few years ago they went from Times employed drivers to outsourced drivers, some people that had been there as much as 17 years were told that they had to reapply with another company to still work there. Not to mention that others were let go.

Well, I wish them luck in the future.
