My mom rips Terrapins athletic director

Folks, meet my mother. She so cray-zay. I disagree with most of what she says here (y’all know my feelings on Ralph) but she’s a longtime Maryland season-ticket holder, and she copied me her letter to athletic director Kevin Anderson. This is in response to Anderson’s letter (read it here) that encouraged everybody to come on out and support the ol’ Terps against Virginia on Saturday. Thought you might like to see what a 2-6 start can do to even the kindest of church ladies (worth noting — I never heard her say “damn” once when I was a kid). Here you go:

Well kiddo….you know the Biblical saying: YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW…..
YOU got rid of Ralph.
YOU embarrassed the life out of him.
YOU got your good buddy from UConn.

YOU ALONE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEBACLE. YOU AND YOU ALONE.

We were members before Ralph got there. We suffered, but what can you expect? THEN came Ralph. A GOOD SPIRIT with
so much to give. He was one of us. Older, tireder, but KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE ACC FOOTBALL CONFERENCE.
Now attendance is flatter than a pancake. There’s no heart in the group anymore, be that parents, players, students, alumni.
Hope you like it ’cause it’s YOUR MESS YOU MADE. We are lovers of Terps football. We don’t even go to the games. Pay for that damn stadium with someone else’s money.
Don’t cry to me Argentina!

(Well this e-mail had a life of its own….went off before I finished. DEFINITELY WANT TO BE SURE YOU GET MY NAME…..)

Go, Mrs. McFarling! You tell that lowlife scumbag what he needs to hear.

Getting rid of Ralph was a colossal mistake, and the Terps are paying for it.

The uniforms change every week isn’t going to cut the mustard. Maryland is not going to be the East Coast version of Oregon with their offense the way it is right now. If they had hired Mike Leach, that woulda been a different story.

Man, imagine if folks wrote angry letters to Jim Weaver…

    Go, Mom A-Mac.

She left out the part about the uni disgrace, though. A nice dig would’ve been to say Kevin Plank can pay for the stadium with the money UA makes from making a joke out of the Terps.

Then again, they are playing so badly, does anybody see the hideous unis anymore?

Rick, I have a hard time seeing how UA can be designing those uniforms. It looks more like it was designed by Heinz.

Something about her use of caps reminds me of the daily briefing. No real rhyme or reason to it; rather, it just is.

Also, I will inform her that it’s “Don’t cry FOR me Argentina.” But hey, get your licks in, Mama.

And don’t forget about the strange retirement of Gary Williams…I think that goes on the AD’s shoulders too…I’m betting the men’s basketball team follows the football team right down the rathole too…

I wasn’t a fan of Ms. Yow…but she knew when to suck it up and work with guys that weren’t her favorites…

    I’m married to a Terp alum…gonna be a long winter…

Haha! Terps hoops into the rathole. Wonderful. And probably true. Although Turge Ferguson (Dave Turgeon — I’ll only be calling him his real name in serious articles) got some kudos from our resident hoop head, Mark Berman, who chatted with “The Turge” at ACC media days. He predicts the Terps have a good future in baskets.

That said, color me more impressed that Maryland hired Eric Milton (alum who threw the MLB no-hitter) as pitching coach for that woeful Terps baseball crowd.

If you guys want to put your money where your mouth is, start a drive to not purchase Under Armour products. That will get the message to the people responsible for this. I won’t buy anymore. That is a start.
