Oh, no, Doe-Doe

You guys started commenting on it as I was in meetings and en route the ballpark — and David Teel had it first among scribes, I’m pretty sure — but Berman has also confirmed that Dorian Finney-Smith has requested his transfer from Virginia Tech. I’ll post a link to Berman’s story when it’s up; I know he’s been making calls on it. (Update: Here it is.)

Finney-Smith was the highest rated recruit of last year’s freshman class and, while inconsistent as youngsters are known to be, showed flashes of great promise. Big loss for new coach James Johnson, who was hired in large part because of the continuity he could bring.

I first learned of it from the radio when the disc jockey stated that Doe Doe was leaving the VT mens basketball team. I started wondering which player he was talkin about since all hokies are Doe Does!

Johnson needs to ensure Harrell does not leave, because he is already behind in recruiting for 2013. Things could quickly sour if his staff does not materialize and hit the ground running on the recruiting trail. 10 & 12 win seasons will not get Johnson a contract from Jim Weaver’s replacement. That’s just the way it is.

Hay, Robert, being a doe doe is better than being a dodo.

Maybe a loss for JJ but not the team- this guy was a whiny underachiever that needs to be close to home and mom- likley ODU- this is the best news since Seth was fired-move on a get a better fit for the team-

Darn. There goes the Hokie’s ACC Championship season. It was a certain lock before this departure!

Maybe DFS’s departure might help Harrell decide to stay…his possible playing time as a freshman just went up considerably because of DoDo’s bolting for home. To me it’s just some expected fall out from JW’s knee jerk decision to fire Seth….my question is, who’s next?
