I do hope for Barry's sake that if GT wins the ACC Championship they will at least be able to keep it this time. The article points out that they had not won it in 19 years, so that is now 21 years without the Championship. If my math is correct, I believe VT has won that title 4 times in 9 years. History, what does it matter? Especially when it's not on your side...

Didn't get to watch the game last night but I really am impressed with the new style of play of the Fun and Gun Hokies. JJ is just letting his guys relax and play ball and it seems to be working for this group he has. Can't believe the Hokies are averaging near or above 90 points a game and am hoping they can keep up that kind of pace given they are playing only eight or nine players. I know it hasn't been against top shelf competition, but still impressive. First time Hokie BB has been 6-0 since 1982-83.

Every November top basketball programs like Duke, UNC, Michigan State, Kentucky, etc. arrange to tango with one another in high school caliber gymnasiums in Hawaii, Carribean resort hotel ballrooms, on top of aircraft carriers, inside Tibetan monasteries, on top of my beer gut, etc. etc. They do this because obviously it’s crucial to rack up high quality victories (and unlike college football, the cost of losing isn’t what you would call high) and they want to mutually inflate their RPIs and SOSs. It’s like some kind of not-so-secret handshake pact between college basketball’s elite.

***********That’s also why Michigan State can make the 2011 NCAA tournament with a 19-14 overall record (wow, IMPRESSIVE!!!!) and a 9-9 conference record (SUPERB!!!). Because it self-flagellated itself with its schedule. WHACK!----THANK YOU SIR MAY I HAVE ANOTHER?---WHACK!*********

So my question is, why can’t VT JOIN IN ON THE FUN with elite matchups and preseason tournaments taking place on top of my beer gut? I guess it’s like a high school clique where only the COOL KIDS (UNC, Duke, MSU, Kentucky, Louisville, etc.) ARE ALLOWED, EH??????????

BfI, you can't play the 'Their next game is the real test' angle and keep moving it if they win. Yes, the OkState game will be a real test, but the Iowa game was also a real test. Give credit where due, Johnson's guys came through on that one. There will be lots of tests as we get into ACC play, but that's the nature of the game. This was a really good win for the team, and the confidence boost will help them against OkState. We can't win all of them, but the more the better.

My observations this season will be mostly about style of play and effort in key areas, not the W-L totals, though those are important. So far, they're grading out very well. Congrats to Johnson & company, keep up the great play!

Also, their next opponent will be the litmus test for the Hokies, that being OK State. Oklahoma State's latest victims are NC State, Portland State and Tennessee.

Congrats to the Hurryin' Hokies 2.0! Picked up a great win tonight over a solid Iowa team. Defense is still in need of work, but the offense performed against a quality opponent not inclined to run the court, so that's a good thing.

Next up-Oklahoma State.
