Update on Aaron’s status

**Update on Aaron’s surgery time. He has informed us that they are now going to do it on Thursday.**

Hi, this post is coming from Steve Hemphill — I’m Aaron’s editor.

As some of you know — if you’re a Facebook friend of Aaron’s or know him personally — our award-winning columnist is going to have some surgery tomorrow. He’s in good spirits and enjoyed the comments some you have sent recently. I know he appreciates all of the thoughts and prayers that have been directed his way.

Here’s Aaron’s Facebook post from last night, which explains a little about what’s going on:

“Thanks to everyone for the kind words and well wishes. Diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Looks like the brain surgery will be Wednesday. Sounds worse than it is. Best news is that chump game I bowled a few weeks back can be blamed on this. I look forward to blaming a lot of other things on this too

:)

    Aaron,

Best of luck with the surgery. Can’t wait til you’re back so I can wonder where you come up with those diverse and sometimes obscure (at least to me) lyrics.

Praying for you Aaron. My son was diagnosed with post meningitis hydrocephalus when he was 2 months old. He had brain surgery on the same day of his diagnosis. We were living in Roanoke at the time . As a Mom I was very frightened for him. He had very good doctors and if you are having the surgery in Roanoke chances are you have the same group of neurosurgeons as my son. They are a good group of doctors. Hang in there and I will be praying for your recovery. Keep us updated.

  17. Trevor | January 15, 2013 at 2:35 pm

Read up on what Aaron was disgnosed with, and it doesn’t sound too life-threatening, but all the same, I’m glad the doctor knows what was ailing A-Mac and now they can operate on him.

Aaron tweeted that his operation is postponed to Thursday. So he is still lucid.

I will be praying for a safe operation and speedy recovery. The blog isn’t the same without his sense of humor and the lyrics I will never know.

  18. Donald | January 15, 2013 at 2:40 pm

Ditto what everyone else has said, A-Mc. God bless and godspeed.

My brother recently had surgery for this condition at Duke Medical in Raleigh. It was performed by Dr. Grossi and did not involve the insertion of a shunt. I am hopeful that Aaron got a second opinion there. The best to him and his family. It is not an easy road.
