Hokies running back David Wilson named second-team All-American by Associated Press
Virginia Tech running back David Wilson was a second-team All-America selection by the Associated Press on Wednesday. Here are all the teams.
Wilson led the ACC with 1,627 rushing yards and is 29 shy of breaking Ryan Williams‘ single season school record. Wilson, a junior, was named the ACC Overall and Offensive Player of the Year this season.
Wilson joins Williams, Kevin Jones and Lee Suggs as the only Tech running backs to be named All-Americans by one of the recognized squads.
Wilson earned All-America honors at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor National Championships in the triple jump by placing sixth, so with this honor, he becomes the first Tech football player to earn All-America honors in football and track.
Four of the five postseason lists that go into consensus All-America status have been released — the Football Writers Association of America, the American Football Coaches Association, the Walter Camp Football Foundation and now the AP. The Sporting News is the last to be publicized.
Here’s where Tech’s players have landed on various All-America lists:

Congratulations to guys for a great season. I am looking for their and the Hokies “A” game at the Sugar Bowl.
On another note, I realize that the sluggish ticket sales my seem like big news, but honestly, can’t we talk about the game? By reading the Michigan paper I have learned about Michigan’s resurgance on defense from 107th to 7th and being tied with Tech on scoring defense in the nation at 17.2 points per game. I learned that in their last game, Ohio State put up big numbers in the air because Michigan chose to stop the run ( Ohio States passing attacks ranks at 118 in the FBS). What does this analysis mean? Is Big Ten speed equivalent to ACC speed? Is Michigan as slow? as the rest of the Big Ten is supposed to be? Where is the information that counts? I even know what uniforms Michigan will be wearing.
If the Hokies players and coaches are as distracted as the Media is with ticket sales, then we are in for a long night. Lets talk about the business at hand-the GAME-the tickets will take care of themselves. The only way to shut up the pundits is to WIN! Michigan is laughing at us for crying out loud!
Hey guess what!? So was UVA O-Lineman Austin Pazstor, but you wouldn’t care about that – would you?
So much for the observation skills of some UVa fans. Bryan, read the heading. This is a blog concerning “Virginia Tech Football”. Why would Andy write about a UVa player?
Bryan, I thought the big banner at the top of the page that says “Andy Bitter / Virginia Tech Football” was self-explanatory, but he’s the beat writer for VT football, not UVA.
Wonder why we never heard back from Bryan???
