A Twitter suggestion for fans of Hokies hoops
One of the most-asked questions I’ve gotten since joining the Virginia Tech beat is if I’ll be covering basketball as well. I will not. Mark Berman is our hoops writer, and finally, after much pleading, prodding and cajoling, he’s joined the Twitterverse.
His handle is @BermanRoanoke, so be sure to follow him, especially now that basketball season is gaining steam. The Campbell game was his soft open. He’ll be a full go tonight when Virginia Tech hosts North Florida, so follow along. If for nothing else, do it for the inevitable back-and-forth he’ll have with Hokies head coach Seth Greenberg (@HeadHokie).
And while you’re in a following mood, be sure to follow me on Twitter too. Plenty more coming this week about Virginia Tech as it prepares for Michigan in the Sugar Bowl.

Campbell and North Florida, wow, who can’t wait for that ?
Well, I was having second thoughts on going to the game tonight. Now, I just might have to, seeing as that I sit right behind Mark, and still marvel at how he pretty much still short hands everything (that’s using a pencil and paper, for you young bucks), and doesn’t even have the laptop out and plugged in.
I’ll bet he drags McFarling along as much as he can to do the Twitter dirty work!
Well, we’re 9-3, but like the football Hokies our record is inflated with victories over parfaits and cupcakes. Lost to the 3 toughest teams we’ve faced- Syracuse, Minnesota and K State. We don’t have the game inside to hang with those guys. Seth just doesn’t seem to ever understand that. Next Spring when we’ve been dissed by the selection committee again there’ll be the usual whining and crying that we get no respect yet we’ll be light on “quality wins” again.
No folks, it’s not easy being a Hokie.
