Signee profile: Salem DE Seth Dooley

Glenvar’s Seth Dooley, from Salem, is a late-bloomer at football who is Virginia Tech’s latest signee.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder is a raw prospect, having only played two seasons of football. Rivals, ESPN and 247Sports list him as a three-star recruit who projects as a defensive end in college.

Dooley showed some of his athletic ability at a Virginia Tech summer camp, running  a 4.6-second 40-yard dash and earning an offer from the Hokies, which he quickly accepted.

He played linebacker and fullback at Glenvar, helping lead the Group A school to the playoffs for the first time since 1992. He had 90 tackles, 28.5 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks as a junior and ran for 782 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior.

Dooley is the first Glenvar player to get a Division I scholarship out of high school since Brandon Semones signed with Virginia Tech in 1992.
