Virginia Tech spring game will be online at ESPN3
Those who can’t make it out for Virginia Tech’s spring game on April 21 will be able to watch it on the Internet.
The Hokies announced that their annual Maroon vs. White game will be broadcast on ESPN3 as an online-only production. Fans can access it through ESPN3.com.
Virginia Tech doesn’t begin spring drills until March 28, going for 3½ weeks before hosting the spring game at Lane Stadium on April 21. It starts at 4 p.m. Admission is free.

I think that is great. Of course, some pansies are already whimpering that Beamer’s secret success fundamentals might be compromised. Others of the same ilk are saying that televising such scrimmages will lead to diluted support for the program, because people won’t attend if it is televised. Admittedly, those are the same people who don’t belong to the Hokie Club, even at the $100 annual level, don’t buy season tickets, and only attend games when they are given free tickets, typically through their business network of contacts.
The big boys televise their games. If Beamer wants to fill his dusty trophy case, he needs to do far more actions like this to be drug into the 21st century of competition.
This is great. This game has developed into the big state rivalry game va. Needs. Only chance for half of our squad to learn what it feels like to lose to a state rival.
abdnva, the game is not going to be televised, it is going to be on ESPN3, which is only on-line.
The “big boys” are televised, but don’t worry, vt seems to be gaining on it…
AB and AMc will be able to exaggerate the attendance of the spring game which has been happening the last few years.
My track record of calling out Auburn for its exaggerated spring game attendances suggests I won’t.
AB, if the Good Lord walked thru the front doors, he couldn’t please everyone, so don’t try. Folks just don’t have any idea what it is like in the South for football if they never been there. Keep doing a great job!
Eagle, it’s not even football season and you’re still trollin’. Nothing else to do?
When it comes to estimted attendence it always gets suspect. But after attending football games in Lane for 30 plus years even I can look and see that a 65 thousand stadium half full is usually 30 thousand plus. Everybody rounds up. Andy as always a terrific job and asset to the sports community you have already been. Check in a couple of times a day.
Eagle, seriously? Virginia Tech ain’t the only programs in the South. Alabama? Auburn? South Carolina? UNC? Clemson? Should I go on?
Go on back to your nest.
And stack maroon is basing his opinion that AB will exaggerate the numbers for the spring game on what exactly?!? You’re doing an awesome job reporting VT football Mr. Bitter, don’t change a thing.
Secret fundamental success? You mean like that successful fake punt in Sugar Bowl? Not sure we’re watching the same team with constant big penaltys etc.
Tell us again why James Farrow is transferring??
Spring game always on a Saturday. Other sites have this year’s spring game on Saturday, the 20th at 3pm. Which one is it? Is the game this year late Sunday afternoon, the 21st or is it Saturday, the 20th which is when it’s pretty much always been? Bitter is reporting that it’s on the 21st, Sunday.
This post is for last year’s spring game. The 2013 one is scheduled for Saturday, April 20.
Thanks Andy,
had a bunch of folks planning on attending.
