Danny Coale signs four-year deal with Cowboys
Former Hokies wide receiver Danny Coale agreed to contract terms with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday.
Follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
Terms were not disclosed, but Coale, who was taken in the fifth round, is believed to have signed a four-year contract with a base salary worth the league minimum of $390,000 (2012), $480,000 (2013), $570,000 (2014) and $660,000 (2015), according to ESPN Dallas.
His draft slot was also due a signing bonus of $190,052.
Coale, who is expected to compete for the Cowboys’ No. 3 receiver job, broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot during the first organized team activity in May and will not be able to practice in Dallas’ mandatory mini-camp this week. He hopes to be back when the team reports for training camp July 25.

Although I detest the Cowboys, I wish nothing but the best for Coale – a true quality guy and everything a Hokie should be. The cow pies got a real winner and hopefully he will have a long successful career.
GO DANNY AND GO COWBOYS!!!!
Earl…you must be a Deadskin fan.
He still has to make the team……
Proof reader – seriously, make the team?? Why would you draft someone, spend time and lots of money to negotiate and execute a 4 year contract and then cut them. Obviously a Wah-hoo.
proof-reader it is a done deal. sure he has to make the team-as in show up. this guy is typical cowboy material. they need receivers and now they got one who wont drop the ball or complain constantly. i hate dallas but i still love him for the catch against nebraska and the catch/ rip off against michigan. 2 big name teams- 2 big time catches. yeah he will make it.
He does have to make the team. No contracts in the NFL are guaranteed. Just ask Peyton Manning signed a 7 yr deal got cut a year later.
Best wishes to Danny and to the Cowboys.
Oh, geez ,he broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot . . . he is afflicted with the curse of Va Tech basketball now, the dreaded broken metatarsal.
Congrats to Danny. Well deserved. Can’t wait to see what a great career he will have. He’s a winner in every regard.
