Virginia Tech sets August practice schedule; two preseason scrimmages open to the public

Virginia Tech players still don’t report for football practice for about 3½ weeks, but the Hokies’ August schedule is already planned out.

The team posted its practice schedule for August on Frank Beamer‘s personal website. The Hokies have 18 preseason practices before getting into game week preparation for their Georgia Tech opener on Labor Day night at Lane Stadium.

Two of those practices — Saturday, Aug. 18, and Wednesday, Aug. 22 – are scrimmages open to the public at 4 p.m. in Lane Stadium. No cameras, camcorders or video recording is allowed.

Here’s the full practice schedule leading up to the opener

  • Monday, Aug. 6 – Team mandatory report date
  • Tuesday, Aug. 7 – Preseason practice #1
  • Wednesday, Aug. 8 — Preseason practice #2
  • Thursday, Aug. 9 — Preseason practice #3
  • Friday, Aug. 10 – Preseason practice #4
  • Saturday, Aug. 11 — Preseason practice #5 (Team photo/Media Day)
  • Sunday, Aug. 12 — Preseason practice #6
  • Monday, Aug. 13 — Preseason practice #7
  • Tuesday, Aug. 14 — Preseason practice #8
  • Wednesday, Aug. 15 — Preseason practice #9
  • Thursday, Aug. 16 — Preseason practice #10
  • Friday, Aug. 17 — Preseason practice #11
  • Saturday, Aug. 18 — Preseason practice #12 (Scrimmage, open to the public, Lane Stadium, 4 pm, No cameras/camcorders/video recording devices allowed)
  • Sunday, Aug. 19 — Off

    I love it too Trevor but at my age I tend to not wish time away. Maybe every year they could start the season just a bit earlier?
