Episode 4 of the Hokies Press Pass podcast
I can’t think of a better way to spend Thanksgiving than to have a big meal, gather all your loved ones in the same room and listen to Aaron McFarling and me blather on about sports for 23 minutes.
Follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
You just so happen to be in luck today. Here’s our fourth try at the Hokies Press Pass podcast. We touch on a bunch of subjects, including Virginia Tech’s win last week at Boston College, Marcus Davis‘ performance, just how the Hokies and ‘Hoos are doing heading into the Commonwealth Cup and lastly, some conference realignment talk.
As a Maryland alum, Aaron now joins me, a Wisconsin grad, in being a Big Ten product. I think he had an interesting take on the situation with the Terps, considering his background.
So give it a listen. Again, it should be mobile friendly. Just click on the download button in the corner of the player. Still working on getting it on iTunes. Hopefully soon.

Andy, really? Tough criticism for a receiver (Marcus) who didn’t block in one game? Wow. Not sure what you’ve seen that no one else has the past 10 weeks but sure would like to know.
I concur ChicagoHokie that guy hasnt blocked all year and yeah Andy i gotta admit i was wondering why you said that!!!!
Criticizing his blocking was fair game. Some of the things people said abut him personally (he’s worthless, he should have his scholarship revoked, etc.) was just plain stupid.
I posted a while ago about putting the season’s failures on Davis. Carroll Dale and Jeff King were the best blocking ends Tech has had. Davis is a poor blocker. But, he does other things that make him valuable. There is a tremendous urge to put a bad season, by HOKIE. standards, on one or a group of players or a coaches and say, ‘there’s the problem!’ Mostly it has been the offense that has caught the heat. For good reason. However, let’s not forget that the defense got pushed around by UNC and Pitt. Fire Foster? No way! But, to read this blog, you think we had five o-11 seasons. So, where is this rambling going? You want to be like Alabama, then you spend like Alabama. $5M for coach, 100K seating capacity stadium, a few NCAA. Violations along the way, and by golly you might get there.
