Purdue finally announces Kevin Sherman as new WR coach

What’s been rumored since the bowl game and known since last week finally became official: Kevin Sherman is the wide receivers coach at Purdue.

Follow me on Twitter and Facebook.

Sherman, a Radford native, spent the last seven years at Virginia Tech, but his departure, along with that of offensive line coach Curt Newsome and quarterbacks coach/play-caller Mike O’Cain has been imminent in recent weeks.

Virginia Tech has yet to officially announce any staff departures or hires, although it’s expected that Scot Loeffler will come on staff as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, Jeff Grimes as offensive coordinator and Aaron Moorehead as wide receivers coach.

It’s unclear when an officially announcement will be made.

Sherman’s impending departure was first mentioned during the Russell Athletic Bowl on Twitter by Pete Roussel of CoachingSearch.com. He departed Virginia Tech last week, according to a source, and had been working for the Boilermakers already this week.

This situation with the coaches and the changes at Tech has been strange to say the least. Maybe now things will start to take place.

Well, there is one that has left the sinking ship. More to follow.

Yeah this has been a strange trip. Has the goal been to let the coaches resign and move to different opportunities to avoid the appearance that they had been fired? At least those that could get hired. Even the Zero Dark Thirty story was leaked within days – did Frank think no one would know?

Oh well, just wish we could rap this up. The new OC needs to get out there and rally the offensive oral commits in advance of signing day. I can’t imagine that most recruits would not be encouraged by the new group of coaches.

What happened to transparency in office? Oh never mind, that was Obama.

Correct Frank, a strange way of handling this coaching situation. It looks like all decisions were made and the staff shuffling were carried out to PROTECT Stiney, boy I would like to see the pictures he has on Beamer.

Sherman is still listed on the coaching roster at Hokiesorts.com.
Guess he is going to split time between Bburg and Indiana.

    Barry

If the ship is sinking, it is my hope you will jump off and swim to safety where there is no interne. That way, all of us that are tired of your comments, will rejoice.

This silence out of Blacksburg is totally unacceptable. Feelings are one thing, but business is another. If you don’t think some of our recruits are not wondering what in the world is going on, you are mistaken. Good chance that if they are on the fence, they are likely to go to another program that looks like they are more organized.

First of all, if Barry became a Tech fan it would be the first time a rat joined a sinking ship.

Second, I don;t get why you guys always think that Beamer should run things the way you want. It IS a business (#8) and business conducts itself in its own best interest. Beamer has a rep for doing things his way. You think he’ll change that because you are impaient? Hell, I wouldn’t do that for you and i’m a nobody.

Good luck to Coach Sherman. Thanks for the hard work in B’Burg.
