Early enrollee profile: OT Jonathan McLaughlin
Offensive tackle Jonathan McLaughlin was the last player to commit for the Hokies 2013 class, but he was one of the first to enroll.
A Mauldin, S.C., product who spent last year at Fork Union, McLaughlin is one of four early enrollees from the 2013 class. He started classes in late January.
Originally an East Carolina signee, the 6-foot-4, 310-pound lineman’s stock went up after he prepped a semester at Fork Union, where he was teammates with Hokies commitments Drew Harris and Jerome Wright. He switched his pledge from the East Carolina to Virginia Tech in December.
Rivals ranked him as the No. 14 prep player nationally this year. 247Sports has him at No. 27.
Given the Hokies’ offensive line depth and McLaughlin’s size, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him compete for reps immediately.
