DougF, careful not to confuse verbosity with veracity. Some folks on this blog say a lot. Often the same lot. Over and over again. They’ll never hesitate to tell you that they said it. Then they’ll tell you again. Mack was righteously jabbing them in the patootie, and I agree with him.

I am with Mack – the comments from some of these guys is so predictable and have nothing to do with what is actually being reported. Some folks just want to be negative no matter what is going on.

This is a day to look to the future. This is a good class that addresses many needs. We did not have a single decommit – when was the last time we could say that? There are a few guys that could contribute early and lots of guys that will be solid and get us back on the winning track.

I like th eidea of Teller recruiting Hand – that could be a winner for us.

DougF you must be new here. I think if you understood the context of the 11s comments, it was probably sarcasm. I actually agree with him and I don’t think that’s whining. It looks like he is pointing out that the new coaches couldn’t possibly have the context to comment on the recruiting process because they just arrived. Also unlikely they could pull a new recruit out of a hat. Looks like a response to the comments above that questioning Stinesprings involvement in the press conference. I think its pretty clear that Stinespring contributed significantly to recruiting this class, whether or not fans liked him as an OC.

Hi David. Thank you for the courteous and well-written explanation. I only used the word whining to point out the obvious difference in tone between his words and Crooked’s words. It seems to me that people who use the word “whining” are trying to belittle the opinion of the commenter but instead only make themselves seem childish and juvenile. I think I am familiar with the posts of the GT fan and perhaps the other two as well. Yes, it seems like every blog has a few trolls whose greatest joy seems to be irritating the heck out of everybody else. Thanks again. Go Hokies!

#28, DougF, Mack is making reference to about 3 people that post on here – often – with an overwhelmingly negative bias – that also tend to spout garbage….such as such and such game is simply not going to occur, when it is. One of these guys is a purported GT fan that spends all the days of his life trolling a VT blog. Out of the context of these three guys, yes Mack would be whining. Once you see all in place, he is not whining at all. One would hope that the comments would mostly have intellectual value, but the ones from the three stooges often are monotonous and invariably needlessly acerbic.

Mack #11 reading your comments it seems to me that you are the one “whining” when you say “Please, for the sake of most readers’ SANITY, drop all the silliness….” Andy’s blog is a great place to share ideas AND opinions so you are going to encounter some commenters who criticize the Hokies from time to time. Live with it man. We have to put up with foolish comments like someone says they “called Alabama….” or wanting to know why there isn’t a list of the recruits the new coaches signed (you know, the coaches who have been here for TWO weeks!). Mack you had me rolling in the floor laughing so I guess the post was good for something. And Les #23 do you think that criticizing a coach is incompatible with being a Hokies fan? I read most all the posts and most of the folks who criticized Beamer and Stiney made well-reasoned arguments and were really interested in the future of the VT program. There is a very interesting mix of opinions in this forum and I am happy it is here–for all of us.

For all you guys busting on Stinespring grow up. We all agreed that he needed to go. Heck, he probably agreed that he needed to step aside. We all got what we wanted, and seemingly upgraded at many coaching positions. And as others have stated, coach Stinespring has signed a bunch of players over the years that have been great value. He’s got to be doing some things right. Focus on the outstanding group of new players we have coming in next year. Also, I was listening to ESPN radio today and one of the signing experts was on saying that the ENTIRE Big 12 conference didn’t sign a single 5-star recruit. Let that sink in. We are lucky to have the Fuller pipeline on our side, and to have signed so many other quality candidates. One thing that impressed me about the class as a whole is that a majority of the signees had in mind what they wanted to major in, like Brandon Facyson who wants to be a heart surgeon. Although some will get degrees in sociology, university studies, and property management hopefully there are some good character guys coming on board and stay focused off the field as well. And Mack, I don’t know if Peppers Ferry has gotten the memo that games are scheduled years in advance and millions of dollars are involved. I guess he thinks we’re still in the sandlot days and if there’s an avalanche blocking the pass we’ll have to reschedule for the spring. Sheesh.
