Signee profile: CB Cequan Jefferson

2.06p jeffersonAnother one of the Hokies’ earliest 2013 commits — Richmond athlete Cequan Jefferson — has sent in his letter of intent.

The 5-foot-9, 175-pound Jefferson is a three-star prospect from Henrico High who some think can be a sleeper in the class, especially with his speed.

“Here’s a guy that’s got pretty good size, good long arms, 5-8, 5-9, 5-10, something like that, 175 pounds, but runs 4.34. Can turn,” 247Sports National Recruiting Director J.C. Shurburtt said. “When I saw him this last spring, there were some fundamental things that he needed to work on, but skill level-wise, high-end ceiling-wise, he’s a better prospect than Donovan Riley or Donaldven Manning that came through in last year’s class.”

A second-team All-Metro pick by the Richmond Times-Dispatch and a first-team All-Capital District selection at defensive back and receiver, Jefferson had a well-rounded senior season. He caught 25 passes for 653 yards and seven touchdowns as a receiver and had 35 tackles, three for a loss and two interceptions on defense.

He had eight interceptions his sophomore and junior year and projects as a cornerback for Virginia Tech.
