Signee profile: OL Kyle Chung
The Hokies’ latest signee has a father who made a name for himself at in Blacksburg many years ago. Kyle Chung, a tight end/offensive lineman from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., is the son of Eugene Chung.
The older Chung had an All-American lineman for the Hokies from 1998-91 and was the 13th overall pick in the 1992 NFL Draft by the Patriots. He had a six-year pro career and is now an assistant offensive line coach with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 6-foot-4, 255-pound Kyle, who was part of the Jacksonville Times-Union’s Super 24 team, played some tight end and guard last season for his high school. He’s listed by Virginia Tech as an offensive lineman.
Chung, who committed at the Hokies’ one-day summer camp in July, is expected to be the only member of Virginia Tech’s 2013 class to come from Florida.
