You have ignored several comments on this blog giving you respect for being a VMI grad, and if you’ll re-read my initial comment, I think you’d be able to suss it out from me, as well. I, for one, am not gloating over wins over smaller schools or weak conference teams. I am, sir, merely indicating support for my alma mater. I do remember how it ticked you guys off when we would get dates from the ladies at Southern Sem, though.
I get the feeling, however, that none of that matters to you. You’re just getting your kicks messin’ with the Hokies. VMI, UVA, it’s all the same to us these days, not relevant.

perch, indicate where Ive said anything that was inaccurate on here.
in early 70s when co-ed tech was really starting to act big time (nothing has changed) and probably had 20x student body of vmi, the keydets won in 73 and 74; so continue to gloat over your wins against smaller schools and weak conference teams, its really all you have. (we always thought you guys in the white hats were selling ice cream at those games)

Careful, Andy, you might scare off the sore losers. It’s kinda fun to read their spittle punctuated vitriol. Reminds those VT fans that say they support any team from Virginia except when they’re playing the Hokies why some of us could not pull for the BooHoos if they were playing for the survival of the modern world.
I seem to recall a time in the 1980s when the Hoos played the Russian bball team in an exhibition game at the Richmond Coliseum. I wasn’t there, buy I heard that a bunch of Hokies made the trip wearing T shirts that said “Better Red than UVA” and cheered for the Russkies. Man, I sure wish I’d have been on that trip.
Sorry to bring up the roundball on a football blog, but darn, I sure hate on them Hoos. And garry is bringing back the old days and reawakening my animosity toward some VMI grads that I thought had faded with their relevance. I remember my rat year, we beat VMI so badly in football that we almost got turned early. Don’t remember the score, but if it had reached 72-0 we’d have been done ratting. I remember thinking in the fourth quarter that we might be able to pull it out, but I think we showed them some mercy with our fourth stringers or something. Too long ago for clear memories, but I remember it was a great day. I also remember a snowball fight between the corps one year that almost got out of hand. Wonder who our next rival will be now that UVA has faded from relevance for us on the gridiron.

Imagine UVA winning a championship in football, I know I know it’s tough, and then having a typical UVA season for the next 15. Yeah not too pretty and in the big picture it would be a program that falls far short of VT. I don’t think anyone would consider them a national champion or give them much respect after those 15 pathetic seasons. Do you realize how stupid you sound? Okay if you want to talk conferences how about VT crushing UT 37-14 in 09? Oh but that doesn’t count because…it’s VT. UT did finish 7-5 in the SEC that year so ooops there goes the VT-would-only-win-4-games-in-the-SEC argument

Good stuff! The chess and cricket comments were funny. Of course, we have never won in those, to my knowledge. When you have to resort to making things up, you have lost. We have the overall win record in every sport, except for softball and football. Those are facts. If you don’t care about the kids that work hard in basketball, baseball, soccer, Lax, etc…..then that is your problem to deal with. We do care about those kids. Do I want Virginia football to be better? Hell yes. VPI def has the upper hand in football right now. Overall athletics and academics better at UVA, no doubt. That’s athletics and academics for those who can’t process clearly.
