Episode 8 of the Hokies Press Pass podcast

3.01p pod3 mug

After a long hiatus, the podcast is back. And we have a treat (if you want to consider it that). Mark Berman joins the myself and Aaron McFarling – back from brain surgery — to revive the podcast.

It’s been a minute since we’ve done one of these, so we cover a lot of ground football-wise, starting with Jim Weaver‘s request not to host a Thursday night this year and moving on to the NFL combine before reaching back to hit on Tech’s coaching hires real quick.

Then it’s Berman’s turn to banter about Hokies basketball. Naturally, he’s got some opinions. Give it a listen below.

    For Mark Berman

Why would VT not try to recruit Rowsey from up at Rockbridge. Might only be 5 11 but sure don’t play like and the way he shoots the 3 ball.

Bo, don’t expect Berman to check this football blog. AMac’s blog may be the place to pursue your question. A much more relevant question is, “Why doesn’t either basketball program recruit harder?” VT is an ACC school and ought to be in the running more.

I know nothing of Rowsey or Rockbridge County HS. A 5-11 player on a so-so team playing in VHSL G

Somehow my post went on the board without my wanting it to. To finish my thought,

A 5-11 player on a so-so team in a so-so district playing at VHSL Group 3 isn’t likely to attract any D-1 power conference recruiters. VT’s women’s team has guards listed at 6′.

What do you think the actual chance of Exum being back for the Alabama game is? Also, if he’s not there, who do you expect to start at cb?

Is Jim Weaver out of touch?

Jim Weaver needs to be out of touch, and out of sight of the Virginia Tech athletic program. He has been here too much time and he is a dud.
