Who has the best chance to start after Leal is graduated: Bucky Hodges or Andrew Ford?
Any news about the recruits that were at the last game?
Even when Logan IS taking care of the football and being efficient (think Alex Smith) *AND* Journell is having a good kicking day, we are STILL struggling to put points on the scoreboard. The perfect example of this is the Pitt game. We’re like a baseball team that can put guys on base but strands ‘em. So should I just throw up my hands in despair at our red zone ineptitude which is mainly due to a run game that can only get incrementally better????
How many recruits are we still recruiting and if possible who are these players?
Are any of these recruits ranked highly by the services?
Why is that even a relevant question HokieFly? How about we worry about our QB right now and not some “bandwagon fanboy”.
More relevant question would be: Why did Beamer only have 2 kickers dress? especially if Journell has been struggling. Yeah he can look good in practice but that’s without pressure or 50,000 fans.
What is the mental state of the team after the (embarrassing) loss to Duke? Loss of confidence? Depression? Or perhaps did it light a fire under them and motivate them to win out?
what position do you think tech needs to recruiit more intensely or look for a higher grade of talent
Fortunately for you the World Series parade is on Saturday, not Friday when your flying. That said, it will be crazy on the T Saturday morning getting to the stadium from Copley!
Good luck and we will see you at the game around 1:30.
to answer all these questions: WHO CARES
I’m sure a team has gone the entire second half before last week
but Has any team ever done it and WON before?
How would one research that anyway?
The mental state has to be one of total reality check. How good are we really? How good were those teams that we have beaten so far? How did our defense do well against Alabama and poorly against Marshall and Duke? Did the Alabama’s QB have a foot problem and therefore limit himself in total effort? Can we really go toe to toe with BC? Would it be best to give Leal a shot on Saturday if Logan stinks up the place again? Should Journell be relegated to extra point attempts? Will we ever find anyone again who can run the ball successfully? When will the Beamers and the OC retire? All are hard questions that need answering. Maybe the Hokie family genius Jerry can shed some light on this.
I’m sure a team has gone the entire second half without a completed pass -

Hey andy you think vt with Scott and Grimes. getting some of there guys in next year and the overall lack of ability. That vt guys have now oline to he excat. Do you think they should hold open competition for positions. I dont see why not the young guys they got coming in seem. twice as better then the guys they got now. Some of the guys on team now seem like they just dont got it. and will never delvelope into elite players.
# 10 Garry, Get lost!! Crawl back under your rock. I care !!!!!!!
Looks like VT and BC will need their team doctors around for the game Saturday; maybe hair, teeth and eyes all over the place.
Garry or Jennie. Do you know what the total wins and losses are among Western Carolina, ECU, Marshall, UNC and Pitt? At this point of the season, are these teams considered to be cupcakes? Also, why did Auburn throw Loefler under the bus?
Don’t attack UNC Berry isn’t that GT’s best win of the year? Loeffler’s story is well known and with your obsession of VT you had to have run across it multiple times. Only your industrial strength reality blinders could’ve blocked it out so many times. Here it is again though. At Auburn he was stuck with a QB that was playing out of position (he should feel like he never left) and was trying (forced?) to run an offense with a roster full of players poorly suited to run it (also might feel like last year for him).
Duke had less than 200 total yards I think
Berry I realize you’re angry I help run off all the trolls but you’re just going to have to deal with it
Hey Gurry who does UVA lose to this week? That’s a question I want to know the answer to
You think VT’s D did “poorly” vs. Duke? Duke had scored 30+ points in every game started by QB Boone this yr. VT held them under 200 yds and Duke had to kick 2 FGs over 50 yds to break into double digits…I’d look elsewhere to blame a VT unit for a poor performance vs. Duke.
Jeery. You are probably the main reason the trolls hang around!
Andy, what’s with the crack you made on Willie Byrn? “Why else would he be on the field?” Huh? He’s on the field because he plays with enthusiasm, gets open and catches about every ball thrown his way. You might as well ask why Danny Coale was on the field.
And Barry, the defense played poorly against Duke and Marshall? Huh? Duke had 192 total yards and 13 points and Marshall had 360 in triple overtime. You can definitely claim VT laid some eggs, but it certainly has not been the defense that contributed to it.
It’s not a crack at Willie Byrn. It’s a fact. He wasn’t going to play much until Charley Meyer got hurt. He’s taken that chance and run with it. But if there was a full complement of scholarship wide receivers ahead of him, I doubt Byrn would be doing as much as he is right now.
Now that he’s there, I don’t think he’s going anywhere, though. He’s produced.
Andy, I guess it just amazes me that the best player doesn’t get on the field regardless of his scholarship status. In my opinion Willie Byrn is the best receiver VT has this year because he is the most consistent and also because of the fire you can see he has for the game. I don’t think Knowles has been as consistent nor do I think he has the confidence that Willie Byrn does. Maybe someone forgot to tell Willie that he’s not supposed to be able to play football at this level. The guy gets open, catches anything thrown near him and can get yards after the catch. I don’t know what more VT would want.
I really wish Coles was healthy. Despite his struggles against Alabama he has been very consistent since then. He really struggles to run though. Is his deal that he can’t run at speed or that he can’t cut? It surprises me he’s as open as he is when I see him run. I know that injury he had, a friend had the exact same issue last summer and it was 9 months before he could walk without a limp.
I have to wonder why the kid was not on the field last year when our receiving corps also really struggled.
