Tonight at O. Winston Link Museum: Requiem for Steam

Requiem for Steam: Photographs of David Plowden
February 10 – May 7

A lifelong passion for photographing trains has given David Plowden an extensive body of work for this retrospective collection. Visitors to the Kulp Trackside Gallery will be transported by the photographs’ ethereal and poignant beauty of a bygone era.

  1. I remember the days of steam engines and used to travel on passenger trains quit often in 1950′s. My dad worked for the N&W and in 1958 when he was assistant roundhouse foreman in Crewe, Va. I got to pull on throttle of a Class J locomotive (the passenger engine 600 series) out of the roundhouse. I was about 14 years old and a great thrill.
