Alice Hohenberg Federico ’67: Reunion 2012
May 31 – September 15, 2012
Ceramic artist and Hollins alumna Alice Hohenberg Federico (Class of 1967) draws inspiration from ancient Greek ceramic arts, traditional Japanese techniques, and modern English pottery to create sensuous sculptural vessels. Lance Esplund of the Wall Street Journal writes, “Federico’s slender, stately ceramic vases…with wide lips, long necks and feet, and curved, swelling bellies – occupy that realm between functional and sculptural.” In addition to these works, Federico has also created new vessels for this exhibition. These streamlined vessels showcase the artist’s deep commitment to creating works that celebrate both her historic influences and contemporary form.
Lecture by Alice Federico: “The Rhythm of the Studio: Experience and Expression”
Saturday, June 2 at 2:00 pm with a reception at the museum to follow.
