Art and fashion blooms along the sidewalk Saturday at One Block East
One Block East Gallery has announced a second collaboration with Fashionista Roanoke. The first, “Framed,” took place Feb. 3.
Models will sport spring colors and flowers get their bloom on for a combination fashion and art show Saturday at Roanoke’s One Block East Gallery, organized in collaboration with Fashionista Roanoke.
Weather permitting, “Art in Bloom” will take place on the sidewalk outside the gallery in the old Shenandoah Hotel. In case of rain, the show will take place on a stage inside the gallery’s main entrance.
Live models will showcase solid color designer dresses created by Terrisa Vaughn of Vaughn Designs Custom Bridals and Formals with materials donated by School House Fabrics in Floyd. Makeup artists Angelique Smith and Toni Freeman will be on hand to demonstrate looks and offer tips.
Aside from fashion models, the sidewalk show will also include flowers courtesy of Mike’s Country Market and Greenhouse, and live artists, creating new paintings based on the floral subject of their choice.
Visitors will have a chance to win a free designer dress with a purchase of $2 and up, wrote gallery co-owner Debbie Stump in an email.
The winner gets to pick the color and style, and the designer will host a private fitting.
