2012 Floyd Artisan Trail Tour launches Thursday

           The Floyd Artisan Trail – June Tour

                                      Friday, June 22 through Monday, June 25, 2012

 

The June Artisan Trail Tour is a four-day tour featuring 64 sites across Floyd County, Virginia with activities at artisan home studios; galleries and shops; wineries; farms and farm markets; and restaurant and lodging sites.

Site activities include the sales and exhibit of fine art, hand-craft and farm products; and demonstrations, classes and talks at sites throughout the county.

Demonstrations and talks include paper-making, sculpture carving, pottery, seminole patchwork quilting, wax batik, woodworking, coffee roasting, painting, the operations of a sawmill in furniture-making, and more.  Some sites will offer specials to tour visitors with discounts on chocolate, accommodations, or complementary items.

An Opening Tour Exhibit will be held on Thursday, June 21, 5-8pm at The Jacksonville Center for the Arts.  The Exhibit will highlight participating sites and their work.  The staffed exhibit will remain open throughout the tour to provide a town location for information, brochure and map, and updated daily schedule

2012 Tour Hours:  Friday & Saturday, June 22 & 23, 10am-5pm; Sunday, June 24, 12-5pm; Monday, June 25, 10am-5pm.  During Tour hours, visitors can find a staffed Information Table at the downtown Community Pavilion (across from the Floyd Country Store) or the Jacksonville Center for brochures, maps, & updated schedules.
