Theater review: the hills of Botetourt County alive with Attic Productions’ “The Sound of Music”
Reviewer Nona Nelson calls for a little more projection from the lead actress but but otherwise had an enjoyable time at Attic Productions‘ “The Sound of Music,” which resumes this Thursday.
Have you seen it? What did you think? Let us know in the comments.
Amanda Cramer lends a sweet voice to the lead role of Maria, who not only teaches the motherless children to sing and play but also helps their father become a less rigid parent. For those of us seated at the back of the theater, however, Cramer’s singing was sometimes difficult to hear over the orchestra, particularly when she performed the show’s title song.
The children of this production — and the success of this show relies on the strength of its youngest cast members — are excellent performers. Louisa Britt’s vibrant voice is perfect for the teenage Liesl, while Skylar Gay is endearing as the littlest von Trapp, Gretl.

Congratulations to cast, crew, director and Attic generally! What a nice review!
