INSIDE OUT 11M
Inside Out 11M Public Art Project Instantly Posts 35” by 55” Portraits of People Attending to Create a Massive Mosaic of Faces that Celebrate America’s Diversity
Date: Friday, September 13, 2013
Time: 11 AM – 7 PM (to be extended if folks are still waiting for photos to be taken)
Place: Heironimus Building, 401 S. Jefferson Street and Church Ave SW, Roanoke, VA (next to 16 West Marketplace, 16 Church Ave, SW)
Visuals: A dramatic wall of large portraits, which grows throughout the day as more and more are added from people attending. See the 35” by 55” portraits taken and printed at the mobile studio, and then pasted on the building at 401 S. Jefferson Street.
What: For one day only, the highly visual and emotional public art project, Inside Out 11M, puts a face on immigration reform by creating a massive mosaic of portraits taken on site, printed immediately and pasted on the outside of Heironimus Building, 401 S. Jefferson Street.
Anyone can participate. There is no charge to participate. Photographs remain on display for 3 weeks, then are removed.
Portraits in Inside Out 11M remind us that behind the numbers of 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. are human stories representing the diversity of people that can call America home. The project is by award-winning artist JR. People share their untold stories and transform messages of personal identity into works of public art.
Special discounts and surprises during event from 16 West Marketplace
Appreciation goes out to City of Roanoke for making this art experience so smooth to put together and to Blue Eagle Partnership, for giving the go ahead to decorate the Heironimus Building.
