Bookends: No Pulitzer Prize for fiction writing this year

The 2012 Pulitzer Prize Winners have been announced, but under the category of Fiction it says ‘No award,’ even though there were  three finalists: “Train Dreams,” by Denis Johnson, “Swamplandia!” by Karen Russel and “The Pale King,” by David Foster.

The last time no award for Fiction was given was in 1977.

However, Fiction wasn’t the only category without a winner this year. Editorial Writing is also listed as having no award.

About this blog

Books editor Suzanne Wardle read cereal boxes, lists of ingredients and just about anything when she was a child, so it’s no wonder she grew up to read for a living at a newspaper. She posts reviews, news, discussion topics and musings on literature of all types. When she’s not reading, she’s out on the greenway with the dog, testing recipes in the kitchen and trying to persuade friends to watch bad monster movies with her.
