Local author Gina Holmes nominated for Christy Award

"Dry as Rain"Congratulations to local author Gina Holmes on her Christy Award nomination in the category of Contemporary Standalone for her second novel ”Dry as Rain.”

The Christy Award is Christian fiction’s most prestigious award given annually to ‘honor and promote excellence in Christian fiction.’

Named after Catherine Marshall, author of the book “Christy,” the awards are designed to ” Nurture and encourage creativity and quality in the writing and publishing of fiction written from a Christian worldview. Bring a new awareness of the breadth and depth of fiction choices available, helping to broaden the readership. Provide opportunity to recognize novelists whose work may not have reached bestseller status.”

Awards will be presented July 16, 2012.

Gina’s first novel “Crossing Oceans” won the 2011 Carol Award and was a Christy finalist last year.  She is the founder of Inspire a Fire, described as “Daily inspiration to flame the passion within you,” and Novel Rocket a resource for aspiring writers named Writers Digest’s best websites for writers.

Gina was gracious enough to answer some questions a few months back. Click here to read that post.

She is currently working on book three, which she said might be her best yet.

About this blog

Books editor Suzanne Wardle read cereal boxes, lists of ingredients and just about anything when she was a child, so it’s no wonder she grew up to read for a living at a newspaper. She posts reviews, news, discussion topics and musings on literature of all types. When she’s not reading, she’s out on the greenway with the dog, testing recipes in the kitchen and trying to persuade friends to watch bad monster movies with her.
