Summer Reads

I’m on vacation this week and have some guest posts lined up, be sure to come back and see what they have to say.

In preparation for my trip, I asked around what other co-workers here at The Roanoke Times and some friends are reading this summer. Here is a quick list. Some of these were mentioned multiple times, and some are rereads. It’s quite an eclectic list.

Have you read any of these? What are you’re thoughts? What are your summer reading plans?

I haven’t read Jenny Lawson’s book but I do follow her blog (http://thebloggess.com/) and it’s a hoot. Also exhausting.

Bring Up the Bodies is at the top of my TBR stack, as soon as I finish Spies of the Balkans by Alan Furst. I’ve been looking forward to it for months!

I read “The Hunger Games” a few weeks ago, and I enjoyed it. It really sucked me in; I was so keen to find out what would happen next. I’m going to start the second book after I’ve finished what I’m reading now. I’d like to read “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” soon, before the movie comes out. The movie looks a lot cooler than I expected.

About this blog

Books editor Suzanne Wardle read cereal boxes, lists of ingredients and just about anything when she was a child, so it’s no wonder she grew up to read for a living at a newspaper. She posts reviews, news, discussion topics and musings on literature of all types. When she’s not reading, she’s out on the greenway with the dog, testing recipes in the kitchen and trying to persuade friends to watch bad monster movies with her.
