DEAD AUTHORS MONTH

Information sent from Roanoke County Public Library

Have you ever wanted to talk to a dead author? Now you can at three entertaining performances:

  •  JANE AUSTEN, Sat, Oct 20 – Travel back to the autumn of 1815 for a visit with Jane Austen at Chawton Cottage. Drawing from her letters and novels, Miss Austen will speak about her life, loves, and family. Performance by Debra Ann Miller
  • MARK TWAIN, Tues, Oct 23 – Spend an evening with one of America’s greatest humorists. Be “prepared for considerable provocation for enjoyable laughter” as Mr. Twain entertains with stories and quips. Performance by David Ehlert
  • EDGAR ALLAN POE, Wed, Oct 31 – Spend Halloween night with Edgar Allan Poe as he comes alive and performs his hair-raising stories and poems. Between stories, Mr. Poe will reminisce about his life and death. Performance by Scott Craig Jones

All events are free and will be held in the South County Library auditorium starting at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and seating is a first-come basis.

About this blog

Books editor Suzanne Wardle read cereal boxes, lists of ingredients and just about anything when she was a child, so it’s no wonder she grew up to read for a living at a newspaper. She posts reviews, news, discussion topics and musings on literature of all types. When she’s not reading, she’s out on the greenway with the dog, testing recipes in the kitchen and trying to persuade friends to watch bad monster movies with her.
