Last minute gift idea–e-book

According to this Digital Book World article, Barnes & Noble is trying to promote e-book gift giving.

For a limited time, from now until December 24, Barnes & Noble is offering a buy one get one to gift free deal. The catch is that the purchase does have to be made in-store and from a select list of 20 titles. However the titles include bestsellers like “The Hunger Games,” “The Hobbit,” and the movie tie-in edition of “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.” Here is the complete list.

What do you think of this offer? Is this a good deal? Which books would you buy and which would you gift?

See below for the steps to redeem this offer. (Excerpted from Barnes & Noble’s website)

  1. From this list, choose which NOOK Book you want to purchase and which NOOK Book you want to Instant Gift. Then visit any Barnes & Noble retail store and let a cashier know.
  2. At checkout, the cashier will ask you to provide two (2) email addresses, one for your NOOK Book and another for your gift recipient’s. The gift recipient will receive his/her email immediately, or you can request a gift receipt to give by hand at a later time.
  3. The gift recipient’s email or the gift receipt will feature an access code that can be redeemed for the free book at BN.COM/redeem.

*Note: The Gift recipient will need to be able to read a NOOK Book on a NOOK device or a NOOK Reading App via iPad/iPhone, Android, or Windows 8.

About this blog

Books editor Suzanne Wardle read cereal boxes, lists of ingredients and just about anything when she was a child, so it’s no wonder she grew up to read for a living at a newspaper. She posts reviews, news, discussion topics and musings on literature of all types. When she’s not reading, she’s out on the greenway with the dog, testing recipes in the kitchen and trying to persuade friends to watch bad monster movies with her.
