Westward ho … and beyond
Have you ever wanted to leave familiar places behind and venture into the unknown?
“Summer on Wheels,” author Peggy Wade’s most recent book, invites you to join her family as they travel on numerous summer excursions throughout the U.S. and beyond in a pop-up camper resembling a Conestoga wagon. Peggy Wade will appear at the Blue Ridge Library on Saturday, April 19, from 11:00-11:30 to talk about her family’s experiences. Her recently published book will be available for purchase and signing. Share the fun and excitement of living in a travel vehicle.
Peggy Wade is also the author of a children’s book, “Stories by Starlight.” The story collection will capture the imagination of young listeners and readers, especially ages 4-8. The author will be at the Blue Ridge Library on April 19 from 10:00-10:30 to talk to children about her writing experiences and read excerpts from the collection such as “Wum-wum, the Worm Who Couldn’t Squirm.” Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
The author is a former guidance counselor with Roanoke County and later Roanoke City secondary schools. Before moving to Roanoke she taught English and Spanish in northern Virginia high schools. Now retired, she enjoys writing for children as well as adults. Her other interests include her family, oil painting and music. She has played violin in the First Baptist Church Orchestra for many years. As evidenced by her latest book, “Summer on Wheels,” she loves to travel. Wade has been to all but one continent — Antarctica.
Blue Ridge Library is located on U.S. 460 East in the Bonsack vicinity. For directions please call the library at 977-3433.
