"Catch the Reading Bug" gets kids ready for school again next fall and the summer entertainment programs will 'wow' the imagination!

Yes, it is that time of year again! The Botetourt County Public Library system proudly announces that on Monday the new summer reading program begins and the first of six entertaining programs will be featured at all three libraries during that week. Little Red Riding Hood is the first program and will be performed by Golden Duck Productions.

The summer program has been part of the library system for several decades and each year offers reading incentives as well as entertainment.

The first program for the summer bills itself as a specialists in producing charming original plays of children's fairy tale classics and in this case is Little Red Riding Hood. Kids and parents come to the conference room at any of the three libraries during the specified times below and find a spot to sit and watch the show. On Wednesdays the programs will be in the Fincastle Library; on Thursdays the Blue Ridge Library and on Fridays in Buchanan.

Registration for the program, "Catch the Reading Bug" is required and this year a free t-shirt will be given at the completion of the summer reading program which is sponsored by the State Library of Virginia across the commonwealth library system. Kids and adults alike keep record of how many books or minutes they read during the summer.

The times are 9:30 a.m. at each entertainment program for names beginning with letters A-L and at 11 a.m. names beginning with M-Z are welcome to attend the events free of charge.

Jackie Mullins the children's librarian for the library system said she believes this will be a terrific year. They have added a few new acts and there will be a movie night as well."I reached into North Carolina this year to get the final act "Story Yeller." She said with a laugh. She accesses programs through the state library system and has now crossed state lines to get new material.

Week of June 25-27-- Puppets by Pizzazz
