Terrific Tuesday

hotsunriseblog.JPG

It's Terrific Tuesday again! What were you doing at Sunrise? It's Summer reading list day!

We have a new intern at The Botetourt View -- Katelyn McDaniel, Lord Botetourt High School Class of 2008. Her first blog was the Pool Patrol from yesterday. She will be attending Va Tech in the fall and major in Communications.

The '69 Chevelle at the Friday night Cruise-In Buchanan was a dream. My first car was a '69 Chevelle and that baby could flat out fly.

Virginia Mountain Vineyards is raising money with a car show, wine tasting and music by the Blue Chips. The cost is $10 for just wine and music and $20 for all events. Part of the proceeds will benefit Roanoke Officer Bryan Lawrence who is recuperating from injuries in an Atlanta Rehab Center. Maybe that 69 Chevelle will be there, too.

I noticed the Bank of Botetourt in Troutville has the General Lee (as in the Dukes of Hazzard car) "For Sale" in the side parking lot. I think that would be an interesting car to drive around town -- bet the gas mileage isn't too great. The TV car was an old Dodge Super Bee from the early 70's I think. Hooray for Muscle Cars.

Summer Book List:
As promised last week we have a list of summer reading:

The Princess Bride by William Goldman from Bailey Howard in advertising,
The Lovely Bones by Ann Seibold from SwoCo journalist Emily Flora
Anthem by Ann Rand from So Salem journalist Miranda Adkins
Boomsday by Christopher Buckley from my daughter Brittany at Orvis
Rose Madder by Stephen King from intern Katelyn McDaniel
Cathy Benson's picks:
Lone Survivor -- Marcus Luttrell. A non-fiction about the Afghanistan War and the deaths of a number of US Navy Seals.
Blood Trail and Blue Heaven--C.J. Box mysteries set out west and men will love these.
The Whole Truth and Wish You Well-- David Baldacci. My favorite author and he has a place on Smith Mountain Lake-- read all of his books . I am a great fan of the Camel Club books, too!
Fearless Fourteen --Janet Evanovich-- hot off the press today 6/17. Read all of her books, too. Funny stuff.
The Memory Keeper's Daughter--Kim Edwards. Interesting tale of secrets
Like Water for Elephants-Sara Gruen. A circus of fun
Queen of Broken Hearts-- Cassandra King. The southern baby boomer woman kind of book-- she has three more books all worth reading as well.

Enjoy reading!!!
