The Botetourt County Office of Tourism is excited to announce that it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Kevin Costello the County Tourism Coordinator said it is the third year they have received the grant and in this economy will be more welcome than ever by the two non-profit groups, Attic Productions and Standing Room Only.

Attic Productions Folk Tales earlier this spring.

The Virginia Commission for the Arts “Local Challenge Grant” is designed to encourage local governments to support the arts.

The mission of the Commission of the Arts is to support and stimulate excellence in all of the arts, in their full cultural and ethnic diversity, in order to enhance the quality of life, to stimulate economic development, to support educational advancement, and to make the arts accessible to all Virginians.

“The Local Challenge Grant allows us to give additional continued support to the two local arts organizations, ‘Attic Productions’ and ‘Standing Room Only, as both are in the county budget and the match has already been made as of July 1. "They should see this money relatively quickly," said Costello.
