New Kroger opened this morning to a packed crowd
While the latest and greatest addition to the Kroger chain is not located in Botetourt, it is very close in Roanoke County on U.S. 460 about a mile from the county line and is called the Bonsack Kroger. Shoppers packed the lot way before 8 a.m. today and by 10 a.m. a steady stream of cars pulled in and out of the lot. One of the opening specials today involved door prizes, but for the next several days anyone with a Kroger card can purchase gasoline for ten cents off per gallon without the customary $100 purchase of grocery.
The old Kroger at King Street and U.S. 460 will now be closed. The outlying strip mall shops in Kroger Square have yet to open.
