Terrific Tuesday

snakeblog.JPG
Jeanne Riley of Troutville found this black snake dead in the bird netting of her Blueberry patch! Hey, it's Terrific Tuesday and it is terrifically hot. How's everything in your neck of the woods? Thanks to the Sharon Riley Porter for sending the snake picture for her mom, Jeanne Riley a real community worker and nice lady all way around. The berry patches of Botetourt are well-known for their "snakeyness!" Send us more pictures, folks, we love to post them and print them.news@botetourtview.com

Well, the Walgreens proposal resurrected today and gave the developer some hoops to jump through. It has been almost comical to listen to folks say they want the store -- pretty much everywhere I have been lately I have heard about it and I suspect the board members who voted "agin" it have had a few phone calls. Steve Clinton has become a deep thinker in the past year. I can tell he has thought about this a great deal.

So what else is going on around town? Only twenty-nine days to the first day of school. Football season is just around the corner. After the first of August practice will begin. Seems like the heat index rises as the stock market falls. What have you been paying for gas? I am sticking to my Kroger card and getting it for $3.77 per gallon. Very hard to imagine that I am just glad it is under $4 per gallon.

Len Miller brought me a whole lot of stuff about Asbury Methodist Church -- that's the church Neils Jacksen has turned into a house that is for sale on Haymakertown Road, which we featured recently. You may anticipate a blog on the info tomorrow. I just love Botetourt History!
Until next week! Stay cool!
