July 1, 2008Terrific TuesdayIt's Terrific Tuesday, whats up with you? It's Buchanan Carnival time and the crowds are slim this year. I have been three nights mostly to yak, take pictures, listen to music and scarf fries with vinegar. I did get off my chair long enough to flat foot to one song last night. Yep -- the economy is slowing down fun, too, but folks-- we need to support the fire department. At least go buy fries and a hamburger. (See photos from the Buchanan Carnival in our June 28 post.) Sunset Saturday night on Catawba Road I think that all of us are feeling the pinch. I am going to be asking about your economic views in the next few weeks. Here's the first responder: Hans Erdman of Eagle Rock said "We are thinking more about the amount of driving we are doing and planning our trips better when we do drive." How about you? Last night Officer Steve Flint, covering security for the Sheriff's Department at the Buchanan Carnival, said he saw a trucker pay $1,000 for fuel last week. And you wonder why you get $100 worth of groceries in a few bags. Which brings to mind the sign at the Pilot store in Troutville that says, "Free gas for a ear." I am sure they mean year but I think the gas thing is more like an "arm and leg." This beautiful sunset occurred on Saturday night after I had worked much of the day and was finally on my way home. It was actually a great day with the Amateur Radio Field Day, the trip to Blue Ridge Vineyard and being caught in a torrential down pour complete with wind, lightning thunder and blogging of course at Mill Mountain Coffee and Tea where I heard a ton of gossip and none of it can be printed, so call me instead! Til next Tuesday! |
