The cat's meow! Greenwood and North Star restaurants now featured
Greenwood Restaurant and North Star restaurant are the latest two featured Botetourt Cat's Meow landmarks.
For fundraisers and collectors there’s nothing better than a Cat’s Meow of a school, historic building or a community icon. Two of the latest Cat's Meow collectibles in Botetourt are of the Greenwood Restaurant, a part of the Botetourt landscape since 1952, and North Star Restaurant, in business for many years back to the '30s when it was a service station. Both are located on Route 11. The Greenwood is just north of Troutville and The North Star is just south of Buchanan. Both are noted for good home cooking!
Rachel Nichols of the Apple Barn stores commissioned the works and she said both businesses were thrilled to be featured as Cat’s Meow. “They make good memorabilia for travelers, residents and graduates.”
So what is Cat’s Meow? They are two-dimensional, wooden buildings and accessories that fit in the palm of your hand, painted to re-create a landmark or special place and each one has a little black shadow cat somewhere on the face! Faline is the creator of the keepsakes and over 30,000 different Cat’s Meow keepsakes for Cat’s Meow Village have been created and orginate in Wooster, Ohio.
Some of the other Cat’s Meow in Botetourt County include the schools, historic buildings and churches in Fincastle and Buchanan and others. Locally Roanoke is well represented including the Mill Mountain Star and the Norfolk Southern Railroad.
