Doughnuts are ready at Blue Collar Joe’s

Yummy, Daleville! The new doughnut shop called Blue Collar Joe’s is open for business and the treats are tasty pastry!

Tim Cupp of Fincastle buys a half dozen assorted cake doughnuts from Daniel Knight the proprietor of Blue Collar Joe’s in Daleville on Monday morning.

The shop will be open Monday through Friday at 6:30 a.m. until early evening. The drive thru isn’t open yet but “Joe” who is really Daniel Knight the owner, is serving many interesting cake type doughnut combos. The “Botetourt Bog” for instance is a triple dip chocolate with oreo dust. He has a handipped in locally made apple cider with caramel icing, a blueberry with bacon dust and maple syrup that he calls “North meets South.” Doughnuts per dozen cost $8.95. He sells by the half dozen also at $4.85 and singly the price varies by doughnut. Blue Collar Joe’s has coffee in all sizes and many flavors.

The shop opened on Saturday and had 50 customers and on Sunday about 60 customers. On Monday morning a steady stream of visitors came into the shop.

On Saturday and Sunday the store will open around 7:30 and “Joe” is still not sure what time he will be closing in the evenings. There are picnic tables outside for seating, otherwise the store is carry out. The glass Display cases glisten in the early morning sun and a t-shirt wall is at the left of the counter. Along the other wall a variety of ice cream tubs fill a freezer.

Blue Collar Joe’s will soon have an adoption list for dogs from the League of Animal Protection and Roanoke Valley SPCA hanging on the wals. The Knight’s dogs loom large in photos along the back wall.

We had a previous post on Blue Collar Joe’s on April 18.

Call it the HOMER, I had the divine pleasure of enjoying a cake donut, w/maple glaze & BACON bits duted on… & was told to add some red pepper flakes… I added a couple of light drops of my fave hot sauce, & WOW! A non-chocolate sweet donut I enjoyed. Thanks “Joe”.

Someone at work brought a box of these wonderful donuts into the office one morning. They were all done in a flash.

Blue Collar Joe’s is on U.S. 220 in Daleville. From Roanoke: Take I-81 north to Exit 150 — take the northbound exit for Daleville/Fincastle — this is the one where you’ll circle around the truckstop. Technically, the exit will put you (briefly) on U.S. 11 south. Go past the truckstop, to the stoplight — take a right onto U.S. 220 north toward Daleville — you’ll go under the interstate . . . eventually you’ll pass the Botetourt Commons shopping center (with Kroger) on your left — there’s a stoplight there — and then in a bit you’ll see Blue Collar Joe’s on the left — just before you see Lord Botetourt High School on your left. If you get to the second stoplight — interchange with Virginia 779, you’ve gone too far.
