Fireworks? Send in donations for the 4th of July Fincastle display

The 4th of July display in Fincastle is funded by communiity donations

The 4th of July display in Fincastle is funded by communiity donations.

Paige Ware is once again asking citizens of Botetourt to make the 4th of July fireworks at Breckinridge Field in Fincastle a memorable occassion. “Fireworks are not all that far off and the Town of Fincastle is seeking donations of money.” Volunteers purchase, set up and fire the colorful display on the basball diamond while a thousand or more folks sit in lawn chairs and on blankets during the display. It is a real community event, said Ware.

“The more donations we receive, the better the display,” she noted. “Each year at dusk we know we have people from all over the county come to our town to see these fireworks and hope to have another great year.”

They need all donations in by June 5. Contact Ware or send donations made out to The Town of Fincastle, PO Box 250, Fincastle 24090.

Head to Toe Massage Opens in Roanoke: A press release from Christina Moxley

April 28, 2009, Botetourt, VA ─ Sean Geoghegan, CMT, announced today that his full service massage practice is open and located inside the Botetourt Athletic Club off of US 220 Alt. South, at 105 Summerfield Court, Roanoke, VA 24019.
A nationally Certified Massage Therapist with a license from the Board of Nursing in Virginia and an active member of the American Massage Therapist Association (AMTA), Geoghegan began his practice in 2002 and has provided more than 6,000 massages since. He started his career at The Sanderling Resort & Spa on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, which was voted the 38th Top Resort in the Mainland of the United States by readers of Conde Nast Travel. He relocated to Roanoke in 2006 to join Divinity Lifestyle Spa Salon, the Valley’s first Aveda spa, where he served as a masseuse and Spa Manager. For two years in a row, Geoghegan earned City Magazine’s coveted Best Massage Therapist of the Year in 2007 and 2008.
Head to Toe Massage specializes in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Stone and Prenatal massage. Free child care, a therapy pool, a steam room and access to the Botetourt Athletic Club are included with services. In addition, he will make house calls, offers in-home massage parties, and provides chair massages as an employee benefit for local businesses.
In spite of the economic recession, massage is a growing trend. Professionally, the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the occupation will grow faster than average until 2016 or at a rate of 20% from 2006 to 2016. According to the AMTA, seated massages at workplaces are becoming increasingly popular as an employee benefit. In addition, some healthcare providers and medical insurance companies are beginning to recognize massage as a legitimate treatment and preventive measure for several injuries and illnesses.
As an opening special, new clients will receive $15 off their first massage and anyone can purchase three massages for a reduced rate of $150. Gift certificates are also available and just in time for Mother’s Day. Appointments can be booked online at www.BACmassage.com or by phone, 540-892-6623. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and by appointment only from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The divisionthree grade level first place trophies for 6,7,and 8 chorus performers.

Their division CAMs won three grade level first place trophies for 6, 7and 8 chorus performers.

Central Academy Middle School won three first place trophies at Music at the Parks 2009, a choral competition held this past Saturday, April 25, at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. This is a good send off to Marcia Neighbors, the chorus director, as she is retiring this June. Though a hot day, the students had plenty of opportunity to cool down on the water rides as evidenced by the 51 pictures in our photo gallery courtesy of George Ewen, one of the chaperones.
