JRHS After Prom Committee begins fund raisers

After prom funds help with decorations like these

After prom funds help with decorations like these used in May of 2009 and stored for the year.

After prom parties provide a safe alternative to dates being on the highway or hosting private parties. At James River High School, the After Prom Committee has begun their annual fund raising drive for the event to be held in the spring. After prom is very popular and has a number of expenses associated with making the evening extra special!

It’s the time of the year when a cow is let loose and well wherever she (or he) does the cow pie business the owner of that platt of land gets a share of the fund raising and fortunately can give the deed back to the ownership of Limestone Park! First place is $400, 2nd place $200 and 3rd place is $100.

The Cow Pie Deeds are $5 apiece and the event will be November 14 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Limestone Park. Within this week students and parents will have the deeds to sell, until then call Donna Boothe at 793-1934 and leave a message to secure some deeds!

After Prom is also holding a raffle.  This year, the combination of collectibles should be appealing as Christmas will be just around the corner and these prizes would make very nice gifts as well. The raffle first prize is the P Buckley Moss Print “The Pit Stop” and 2nd prize is the Longaberger Cake/Pie Carrier. Those tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5 and the drawing will be on December 14 at the girls basketball game.

Anyone wanting to purchase a raffle ticket can call Donna Boothe at 540-793-1934 and leave a message.

After Prom also has 2 Schwan’s Truck Load sales set for November 7 and December 5 at the Happy Food Mart on US Rt 11, Lee Highway North in Buchanan from 8 am until whenever. Whenever is hopefully the trucks are empty and the After Prom committee has full coffers!
