State Association honors Botetourt Parks, Recreation and Tourism Website
The Botetourt County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department’s redesigned website (www.botetourt.org/recreation) recently received top honors from the Virginia Recreation and Parks Society, winning the “Best Promotional Effort in Electronic Media Award for 2009.” The award was given in the population category of 25,001 – 50,000. This is the second consecutive year the Department has won a State award. In 2008, the Botetourt Sports Complex won the “Best New Facility Award.” Mark Moore, Assistant Director of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, accepted the award at the Society’s annual conference at the Hotel Roanoke. “It’s a great honor to be recognized by your peers across the state,“ says Moore. “A lot of hard work went into the redesign of the website. Our fellow co-workers in the Management Information Systems (MIS) Department and webmaster Wendy Farkas are to be commended as well.”
The Recreation Department staff worked countless hours with the MIS Department and Ms. Farkas to improve the appearance, layout, content and flow of the Department’s website. The result was an award-winning site that benefits the thousands of citizens participating in recreation programs throughout Botetourt County.
