Home invasion on Glebe Hill Road

This release comes from the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office:

Botetourt Sheriff Seeking Masked Trio In Sunday Night Home Invasion

Botetourt County Sheriff Ronnie Sprinkle has announced that his officers are pursuing possible leads to the identities of three armed and masked intruders who kicked in the door of a Daleville home shortly after midnight Sunday night and terrorized and robbed the elderly couple who resided there.

Sheriff Sprinkle identified the victims as Delories Virginia Noell, 79, and Joe Evans Noell, 81, who reside on Glebe Hill Road. The Noells were not physically harmed, he said.

Mrs. Noell was forced at gunpoint to endeavor to open a home safe, but was too nervous to successfully comply with the demand, the sheriff said. The intruders bound the two residents, searched Mrs. Noell’s purse, and then fled, taking the safe and cash from the purse with them, Sprinkle said.

The three robbers were described as presumably male, wearing dark clothes, ski masks, and gloves.

The reason myself and my wife and daughter are now living in Virginia is because our former home area in Shreveport, La. was seeing home invasions weekly, shootings and stabbings daily. The final straw was when a good firefighter friend, Joe Prock, stopped by his mothers house in his fire department uniform, to check on her and the strange car in the driveway. This was in a rural area just a few miles from us. Joe was beaten senseless with a pistol by two men, tied up on his mother’s kitchen floor and burned to death. Since he was in uniform and aiding his mother who was at risk of losing her life also, he was given a full fire department funeral with honors having lost his life in the line of duty. His funeral of course was a closed casket. Pray this doesn’t keep happening here because not everyone will be so lucky as to only be shaken up and tied up. Eventually someone will die in these home invasions. I have no doubt Sheriff Sprinkle is determined to get to the bottom of this. There also needs to be more community education. I have noticed that folks here are much more trusting than we could afford to be in Louisiana.

I would love to see some follow-up regarding this home invasion. This is terribly disturbing and I cannot believe there has been no further updates. Is there any further information or progress in this case? Thanks for checking.

The event is still under active investigation according to the
Sheriff’s Department, but so far there has been no other released information. I agree it is disturbing.
On websites for crime deterrence here are a couple of recommendations:
Keep your doors locked,an outside light on and get a “barky” dog. I keep my cell phone close by so I could call 911.
