Elisabeth Hancock, a 2006 graduate from James River High School, recently competed in the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships as a member of the University of Mary Washington rowing team. The competition near York, Pennsylvania included eight colleges and universities. The UMW women’s rowing team repeated as conference champions. Elisabeth rowed with the women’s Varsity 8, which earned a gold medal by winning the two kilometer race with a time of 7:13. Elisabeth was also honored as one of two UMW students to be named to the all-conference academic honor roll for having participated in the conference championships while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.
