Botetourt County honors Gala Industries and its Fire and Rescue volunteers

Gala Industries is superb letting volunteers be first responders in volunteer Fire and Rescue

Not all of the  volunteers listed serve in Botetourt County, several also serve in Allegheny County, but Gala Industries is a showcase company for allowing employees to leave work and be first responders at fire medical emergencies  for the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Departments where they serve. On Thursday August 5, the volunteers and the company were honored by Botetourt County for their service and for the company’s encouragement of the volunteers.

Terry Austin, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors read a proclamation from the  board honoring Gala Industries commitment to employees who serve as community workers in fire and rescue.  He presented the framed proclamation to David Bryan, Chairman and CEO of Gala Industries.

On hand as well were David Firestone, Director of EMS for Botetourt County,  Spencer Suter, Assistant County Administrator and executive director for  County EMS, Jerry Burgess, County Administrator,  Donna Vaughn, Fincastle Supervisor and the many volunteers who serve their communities in time of crisis. They were  Darryl Johns,  Gene Mays, Chriss Anderson, Jerry D. Caldwell,  Timmy Keyser,  Marty Rickman,  Matt Newcomb,  Johnathon Reid,  Steve Boblett,  Bobby Martin,  William Carrey,  Chris Wiley,  Ricky Morris,  Donald Bruce and  Jim Ward.

The fire truck pictured with the volunteers is a first responder vehicle loaded not only with fire fighting supplies, but also medical supplies.  The truck is on site at Gala every day so it is ready to go.

Gala Industries located in Eagle Rock  is an International Company that is a leading manufacturer of centrifugal dryers and pelletizing systems worldwide, and offers custom designed turn-key pellet production systems for thermoplastics, engineered resins, TPU, HMA and compounding applications. They have sites in Thailand and Germany as well.

Volunteer fire and rescue workers at most companies and organizations currently  are not allowed to leave their work sites in order to go to a call, noted Austin. He said that is why Gala Industries  is so impressive  in their support of not only the  volunteers who work there,  but the community as a whole.

  1. Way to go volunteers!! Some people don’t realize just how much time you all put into serving your communities and the sacrifices that you all make. You’ve got to love what you’re doing and I think you all are doing a terrific job. Way to go Gala Industries for allowing your employees to help protect their neighbors. Proud of all of you!
