LBHS Swim Team breaks school records at AA & A State Championship Swim Meet

The Lord Botetourt Swim Team made an impressive showing at the AA/A State Championship Swim Meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday, February 25 and 26. Five more school records fell as the boys finished in 20th place out of 38 teams and the girls finished in 35th place out of 42 teams.

The LBHS boys 200 Medley Relay team of Bobby Brajdic, Hunter Scothorn, Tyler Bailey and Chris Wingfield started off the meet by setting a new school record of 1:46.40 and finished 18th overall.

Bobby Brajdic then swam in the 200 IM and 100 Fly preliminaries, qualifying for the Championship Finals for both. He finished 3rd in the 200 IM with a best time and new school record of 1:56.55 and 8th in the 100 Fly with a best time and new school record of 53.40.

Tyler Bailey swam in the 50 Free and 100 Fly preliminaries and qualified for the Consolation Final for the 50 Free. He finished 14th in 50 Free with a time of 22.89 and 34th in the 100 Fly with a time of 59.06.

The 200 Free Relay team of Bailey, Wingfield, Devon Jackson and Brajdic finished 22nd with a time of 1:35.36, only .01 off of the school record.

The LBHS girls were led by Sophomores Mackenzie Lingle and Cassidy Jackson.

Mackenzie Lingle swam in the 200 IM and 100 Free preliminaries, qualifying for the Consolation Final in the 100 Free. She finished 24th in the 200 IM with a personal best and new school record of 2:20.72 and 11th in the 100 Free with a time of 56.18.

Cassidy Jackson swam in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke and finished 30th in the 200 IM with a personal best time of 2:24.35 and finished 30th in the 100 Breaststroke with a new school record of 1:14.08.
