Eagle Rock Library – Events for May 2011

2 Mon. Friends of the Library Monthly Meeting. Get an update on the Fill the Shelves Campaign and share your ideas on how we can raise money to support the library. 6:00pm.

3 Tues. Storytime. Join us as we read stories all about mommies! After our stories, we will make beautiful flowers out of colorful tissue paper to give to our moms for Mother’s Day. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880. 10:30am.

5 Thurs. Monthly Movie (for all ages): Yogi Bear. Hey kids! Join us after school for a free showing of the new Yogi Bear movie. Jellystone has been losing business, so conniving Mayor Brown has decided to shut it down and sell the land. Faced with the loss of his home, Yogi must prove he really is ‘smarter than the average bear’ as he and Boo Boo join forces with Ranger Smith to find a way to save the park from closing forever. (Rated PG/80 minutes long). Free popcorn and bottled water will be provided. 2:45pm.

5 Thurs. Book Club. Join us as we discuss F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic book The Great Gatsby (copies are available at the front desk). We will also hand out our June selection, Jan Karon’s At Home in Mitford. New members welcome! 6:00pm

6 Fri. Craft Time: Necklace for Mom. Hey kids! It’s almost Mother’s Day. Come to craft time and make a creative necklace so you’ll have a gift to give to your mom on her special day. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880. 2:40pm.

12 Thurs. Silver Surfers: Basic Computers and Internet for Seniors. Do you want to learn computers like the young people? Are you afraid of computers? Join other beginners as we learn how to use a computer and the basics of searching the Internet. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880. 6:00pm (in our computer lab)

13 Fri. Craft Time: Weaving. Hey kids! Join us for this cool craft time where we will learn all about weaving from local weaver, Ms. Susan. And everyone will get to make their own little woven craft to take home! Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880. 2:40pm.

17 Tues. Storytime. Do you ever get the rainy day blues? If so, join us as we read stories to brighten our rainy days and make them fun. Afterwards, we will put together a cute picture puzzle. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880. 10:30am.

27 Fri. Craft Time: Sunlight Prints. Hey kids! Join us as we use the magic of solar energy to create artistic prints on special light-sensitive paper. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880. 2:40pm.
