Pilot Curbside Recycling to begin Oct. 3
On October 3rd, Community Sanitation Service and Kelley’s Garbage Service, in coordination with Botetourt County, will begin a 6-month pilot program to determine the benefits and costs of providing curbside recycling service in Botetourt County.
To be eligible for the pilot study, residents must live in the service area and be a customer of either Kelley’s Garbage Service or Community Sanitation Service. Customers of the two trash hauler companies will be invited to participate in this testing program. Residents who sign up will receive collection schedules as well as details about what may be put out for pick up.
Recyclables will be collected on alternating weeks. Study participants will be able to set out mixed paper or comingled items (plastics #1 and #2, glass bottles and jars and tin cans). Details of the pilot program may be found on the County’s Recycling web page: www.botetourt.org/living/recycling.php#pilot
