Twilight Party sponsored by Girl Scouts

Botetourt Service Unit Girl Scouts sponsored a Twilight Party led by Robin Meador. The girls played games, made dream-catchers, God’s eyes, paper flowers, and colored hearts. For their service project, they made Get Well and encouragement cards for a local Girl Scout who recently had heart surgery. Refreshments were served. Kaiser wins first National Road Race Championship

Dr. Paul C. Kaiser of Troutville, graduate of Salem High School and Roanoke College, claimed his first National Road Race Championship at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
In the FFR Class No. 8 Paul Kaiser, from Virginia, pulled away from the field on lap nine and never looked back, winning in his Factory Five Racing Cobra, posting a fast lap of 1:38.407. In second was the pole sitter No. 64 Scott McKay, Florida, and third was No. 5 Paul Arnold, from Tennessee.
“I couldn’t be happier. This has been a long time coming,” Kaiser said. “We’ve worked hard the past few years, and we really worked on our car preparation. I really want to thank Jeff Bowles who setup my car. There’s nobody better than Bowles. The car was a dream. Seven is my lucky number, this my seventh time here, and I was born on the seventh. McKay is a three-time champion, in any sporting event that is hard to do. I am happy to beat him today. I want to thank my family for helping me do this and for all of their support.”

Tonight’s football forecast: Cold front coming in

Weather journalist Kevin Myatt

James River travels tonight up to Alleghany for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Lord Botetout has a bye week.

Weather journalist Kevin Myatt has this forecast:

A cold front is blowing in Friday. It will get breezy Friday night with temperatures falling into the 50s during the games. There is a slight chance of showers, but they should be short-lived if they occur.

For more weather news, see Kevin’s Weather Journal blog.

Last week we had two galleries from the Lord Botetourt game in Blacksburg– one from Karen “Cookie” Blair-Mitchell and one from Wendell Jones. We also had one photo gallery from a very rainy James River game against Staunton River.

Will you have photos from tonight’s game? Or anything else going on around Botetourt County? You can share your own at news@botetourtview.com or use the “share” tool to upload 10 at a time.
